Today, Congressman Van Drew made a statement advocating for a plan to reduce prescription drug prices by aligning certain U.S. payments with the lower rates found in other high-income countries.
“First, let me be clear: I will never support cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, or Social Security that are not specifically aimed at reducing waste, fraud, or abuse,” said Congressman Van Drew. “These programs are vital to the people I represent and must be protected. But we need real reform.”
Van Drew criticized pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), claiming they profit significantly while American families face some of the highest drug prices globally. “This has to stop,” he emphasized.
The congressman expressed alignment with former President Trump on finding ways to safeguard these programs while simultaneously lowering costs. He supports linking U.S. drug payments to those in other developed nations as a sensible approach.
“I will not support cutting benefits for any eligible American or facility,” he asserted, adding his commitment to opposing large pharmaceutical companies to secure better deals for Americans. “President Trump is right!” he concluded.
