Today, Congressman Van Drew announced that he has successfully secured essential language in the final Reconciliation bill to safeguard New Jersey hospitals and patients. “Because of our state’s unique county-based hospital provider tax model, New Jersey hospitals were at risk of being left behind,” stated Congressman Van Drew. He emphasized his refusal to accept any legislation that did not address this issue.

After collaboration with President Trump and the White House, the necessary adjustments were made to ensure New Jersey’s full coverage in the bill. The protection guarantees continued funding for hospitals across the state, allowing them to provide care for patients effectively. The bill has passed through the House of Representatives and awaits President Trump’s signature.

“This bill delivers historic investments directly to South Jersey,” Congressman Van Drew added. A $425 million investment will upgrade U.S. Coast Guard Training Center Cape May into a world-class facility. Additionally, $12.5 billion is allocated to modernize air traffic control systems, with Atlantic County’s William J. Hughes Technical Center playing a leading role in testing new technology.

The passage of this bill promises significant tax relief for working families while maintaining crucial programs like Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. Congressman Van Drew addressed misconceptions about the bill by stating: “With so much contradictory information circulating around about this bill, I wanted to take a moment to explain what actually is included in the text.”

Regarding tax cuts, he clarified: “This bill delivers the largest middle- and working-class tax cut in U.S. history.” It permanently enshrines the 2017 Trump Tax Cuts and introduces various measures aimed at increasing take-home pay for middle-class households.

On Medicaid concerns, Van Drew assured there would be no loss of coverage for eligible recipients such as expectant mothers and seniors while introducing work requirements only for able-bodied adults without children.

SNAP benefits remain fully funded with efforts focused on strengthening program integrity without cutting benefits for eligible individuals.

Van Drew also confirmed that Medicare and Social Security face no reductions under this legislation but instead offer significant tax reliefs for seniors.

Finally, addressing claims that the bill undermines national priorities, he stated: “This bill enacts the legislative agenda that Americans overwhelmingly voted for.” Investments include modernizing air traffic control systems and enhancing national security through funding initiatives like border security enhancements.
