Congressman Jeff Van Drew addressed several national issues in a series of posts on December 4, 2025, including law enforcement actions by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the expiration of Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies, and the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) in child exploitation crimes.
In a post at 14:56 UTC, Van Drew stated, “.@DHSgov is taking the worst of the worst off our streets. ICE arrested a criminal illegal from Honduras convicted of sexual assault, including against a minor, in New Jersey. America is safer tonight.”
Later that day at 17:03 UTC, he commented on health care policy and insurance coverage for Americans. He wrote, “In just 28 days, the ACA subsidies expire. The tax credits need to be reformed, no question about that. But we need to extend them now so Americans stay covered while we work on a real fix to this broken system.” ACA subsidies are federal financial assistance programs designed to help eligible individuals afford health insurance purchased through government marketplaces.
At 19:17 UTC, Van Drew highlighted concerns over technology-facilitated crime involving minors. He posted, “Predators are using AI to create child exploitation material at levels we’ve never seen before. And many are getting away with it because the law hasn’t caught up. The ENFORCE Act is how we fix that.” The ENFORCE Act has been introduced as legislation aimed at updating legal frameworks to address new threats posed by AI-generated content related to child exploitation.
Van Drew represents New Jersey’s Second Congressional District and has frequently commented on immigration enforcement efforts and legislative responses to emerging technology-related crimes.
