When Jessica Dagene, Taylor McCreight, and Tyler Melnicove started their nursing careers at Shore Medical Center, they found more than just a workplace. They discovered a culture that values compassion, mentorship, and teamwork.
Jessica Dagene, a Stockton University graduate, chose Shore even before earning her degree. Her first clinical rotation was under Elaine Toolsie, MSN. “Elaine walked us through every step of what it’s like to be a nurse,” Jessica says. She works on the Med/Surg and neuro floor, balancing patients’ medical and personal needs. “I want every patient to know I care about what’s important to them,” she says.
Taylor McCreight works in Maternal Child Health. She previously worked as an aide while completing her nursing program at Stockton. “I was born here, live nearby, and knew so many people already,” she says. Taylor enjoys the pace of maternity work and values the camaraderie in her unit: “All the nurses are like sisters.”
Tyler Melnicove transitioned from emergency medical services to nursing after being inspired during the pandemic. A tour of Shore’s ER confirmed his decision to work there. “I saw the sensory care room, and thought, ‘If this hospital is investing in that, they’re investing across the board,’” Tyler says.
These new nurses have found a place where they feel valued and supported at Shore Medical Center.
