Michael Testa, a senator for New Jersey, announced his discussion with Robin Walton at the Southern New Jersey Chamber of Commerce Legislative Breakfast regarding his policy goals and the upcoming transition to a new administration. This statement was made on X.
“I always enjoy starting the League of Municipalities with the Legislative breakfast by the Chamber of Commerce of Southern NJ,” said Testa. “Today Robin Walton & I had a fireside chat to discuss lame duck session, my legislative priorities & the expectations from a new administration in 2026.”
The New Jersey State League of Municipalities annual conference serves as a platform for state and local officials to address significant issues related to governance, infrastructure, and economic growth. The Legislative Breakfast, organized by the Chamber of Commerce Southern New Jersey, provides a venue for lawmakers and business leaders to present legislative priorities and regional concerns. According to Testa, his participation underscores his engagement with stakeholders as the legislature approaches its lame duck session before the 2026 gubernatorial transition.
The Chamber of Commerce Southern New Jersey comprises over 1,000 member organizations, from small businesses to large corporations. It regularly hosts policy events aimed at promoting pro-growth economic strategies and regulatory reform. The 2025 Legislative Breakfast concentrated on business competitiveness, workforce development, and state budget stability—topics that are increasingly crucial as New Jersey prepares for leadership changes and evolving fiscal challenges.
New Jersey’s lame duck legislative session is traditionally marked by heightened policy activity preceding the inauguration of a new administration. In recent years, lawmakers have debated issues such as property tax relief, workforce development incentives, and energy infrastructure. Analysts indicate that these sessions often influence the priorities of the incoming governor and set the tone for legislative cooperation in the forthcoming term. The 2025 session is anticipated to tackle essential economic and budgetary matters.
Senator Testa represents New Jersey’s 1st Legislative District, which includes Cape May County and parts of Cumberland and Atlantic Counties. Elected in 2019, he co-chairs the New Jersey Legislative Manufacturing Caucus and has been a vocal advocate for small businesses, public safety, and fiscal responsibility. His leadership emphasizes revitalizing South Jersey’s economy, safeguarding taxpayers, and ensuring that state policies foster opportunity and accountability.
