Shore Medical Center has been recognized by The Leapfrog Group and the American Diabetes Association (ADA) as a national leader in caring for individuals living with diabetes. This recognition places Shore Medical Center among 36 hospitals in the United States, and it stands out as the only hospital in South Jersey to receive this distinction.
Valerie M. DeJoseph, Administrative Director of Quality, Medical Staff Services & Regulatory at Shore Medical Center, expressed pride in this achievement. “We are incredibly proud to be recognized as a national leader in caring for people living with diabetes,” she said. She highlighted that the designation is a result of extensive collaboration and strategic focus across the organization, reflecting their commitment to patient safety and high-quality care.
DeJoseph also noted efforts such as implementing standardized hypoglycemia protocols and improving discharge planning for diabetic patients as part of their commitment to excellence in inpatient diabetes care. “This recognition affirms that Shore Medical Center is not only meeting—but exceeding—national standards in diabetes management,” she added.
The Recognized Leader in Caring for People Living with Diabetes program evaluates hospitals based on their treatment of diabetic patients during admission, stay, and discharge. It employs ADA’s Standards of Care alongside Leapfrog’s standards for hospital safety and quality.
