Shore Medical Center has recognized Jannine Bournias, APRN, AGNP-C, from Ocean City, as the June Guardian Angel of the Month. This acknowledgment is part of Shore’s program that allows community members to express gratitude to a caregiver through a donation in their honor.
Bournias began her tenure at Shore Medical Center as a nurse in 2012 and advanced her education to become a nurse practitioner. She joined the Palliative Care team in 2019 after completing her degree.
Dr. Daniel Jacoby, medical director of palliative care, praised Bournias for her dedication and empathy. He stated, “Jannine is a dedicated and empathetic nurse practitioner in palliative care, known for her deep compassion and unwavering commitment to her patients.”
A patient recently honored Bournias with a Guardian Angel donation following her care for their mother. The patient shared: “My mother of 97 years had a bad fall… Jannine advocated for my mother while guiding my brother and I. We are forever grateful for the guidance, care and respect my mother was given.”
The Guardian Angel program at Shore Medical Center offers patients and families an avenue to recognize those who impact their care positively. Honorees receive recognition among peers and are awarded a pin during an annual ceremony.
