Shore Medical Center announced on Mar. 31 that Maria Sanchez of Egg Harbor Township has been named its April 2026 Guardian Angel of the Month for her compassionate and exceptional patient care.

The recognition highlights the importance of acknowledging healthcare workers who make a meaningful difference in patients’ experiences. The Guardian Angel program was created by Shore Medical Center to allow patients and families to express gratitude to caregivers through donations made in their honor.

Sanchez, who works as a Stress Tech/EKG Tech in the Non-Invasive Cardiac Lab within the Diagnostic Imaging Department, has served at Shore Medical Center for more than 38 years. She is known among colleagues as a dependable team member who always puts patients first and is willing to help others when needed. “Maria was so kind and caring during my procedure. She told me everything, keeping me informed and really cared that I was OK!” said a grateful patient who nominated Sanchez for the award.

Courtney Humphrey, BS, RT(R),(M), QMPA, Director of Diagnostic Imaging at Shore Medical Center, praised Sanchez’s dedication: “Maria is a dedicated employee who can always be counted on to put her patients first. She truly cares about every patient she encounters and brings a level of empathy and kindness that makes a difference in every interaction.”

Sanchez’s compassion extends beyond her professional role; she enjoys spending time with her large extended family and remains active in her church community.

The Guardian Angel program continues to offer an opportunity for patients and families to recognize caregivers at Shore Medical Center. Honorees receive acknowledgment among peers and are presented with a Guardian Angel pin during an annual ceremony.
