Congressman Van Drew has addressed the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) with a request to examine Atlantic City Electric's (ACE) recent rate increases. This appeal follows developments in Maine, where the Maine Public Utilities Commission mandated Electricity Maine to refund $6 million to customers after it was found that they had been overcharged.

"We can learn from what is happening in Maine," stated Congressman Van Drew. He noted that only 125 phone calls prompted action in Maine, while thousands of South Jersey residents have voiced their concerns without seeing similar measures taken by NJBPU. Consequently, Van Drew announced plans for a federal investigation through the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), with a meeting scheduled soon. "While we are frustrated with the slow pace of this process, I will not stop until residents receive the relief they deserve," he affirmed.
