Today, Congressman Van Drew shared his thoughts on the approval of the Fiscal Year 2025 House budget resolution. He emphasized the necessity of advancing the budget process to enable meaningful negotiations.

"As much as I wanted to see a different budget resolution, I ultimately voted for it because it is essential to move the budget process forward so real negotiations can begin," said Congressman Van Drew. He acknowledged the public's demand for a budget that manages spending while safeguarding vital services. "Americans made it clear they want a better budget—one that reins in spending while protecting the services families rely on."

Congressman Van Drew assured constituents that he would not support cuts to key programs such as Medicare, Social Security, or Medicaid. "Let me be clear: I will not cut Medicare, Social Security, or Medicaid," he stated. He expressed his commitment to defending these programs during upcoming discussions and highlighted their importance for low-income families, seniors, and individuals with disabilities.

He also mentioned ongoing conversations with President Trump regarding these issues. "I have had numerous one-on-one conversations with President Trump on this matter, and he shares my philosophy—these programs must be protected for the low-income families, seniors, and individuals with disabilities who rely on them."

Addressing circulating misinformation about the resolution, Congressman Van Drew clarified its implications. "Unfortunately, there has been some misinformation circulating about this budget resolution. The facts are simple: the resolution does not cut Medicare benefits, Social Security is fully protected, and there are no cuts to Medicaid." He noted that the resolution serves as a non-binding framework without direct impact on these programs.

He reiterated his dedication to maintaining fiscal responsibility while ensuring economic stability. "I will always fight to protect the programs that Americans depend on while working to ensure our nation remains fiscally responsible and economically strong."
