Congressman Van Drew has expressed his support for the passage of the Continuing Resolution (CR), H.R. 1968, which ensures that the federal government continues its operations by maintaining current spending levels until September. The Congressman emphasized the importance of this resolution in preventing a government shutdown and sustaining essential services.
"Tonight, I voted in favor of the Continuing Resolution because it is a vital step in keeping our government open and maintaining essential services for the American people," stated Congressman Van Drew. He clarified that the bill extends current funding through September, allowing time for President Trump and Congress to advance their agenda focused on prioritizing Americans.
Addressing circulating misinformation about the resolution, Congressman Van Drew stated, "The CR includes no cuts to Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid. In fact, this bill ensures that these critical programs can continue uninterrupted and fully funded."
Looking ahead to future budget discussions, he added, "When it is time to vote on a full budget in September, I will not support any proposal that includes cuts to these programs unless they target waste, fraud, and abuse." He affirmed that passing this CR ensures essential government functions remain funded and accountable to citizens.
