Today, Congressman Van Drew criticized the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) for its decision to give offshore wind developer Attentive Energy an additional year to make a payment of $37.3 million that was initially due in January.
“Once again, the NJBPU is choosing to protect big corporations instead of standing up for New Jersey families,” stated Congressman Van Drew. He compared this to the situation faced by hardworking families and small businesses, who he said do not receive any special treatment while struggling with rising utility costs. Congressman Van Drew further alleged that “massive companies, who made empty promises and took advantage of taxpayer-funded incentives, are being rewarded with extensions.”
He expressed his displeasure with the NJBPU’s actions and added, “While the state has already wasted billions on these failed projects, it is time to move on. That starts by collecting every last penny these companies owe the people of this state.”
