Today, Congressman Van Drew expressed relief that Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and his family are safe after an arson attack at the Governor’s Residence in Harrisburg. Van Drew stated, “I am incredibly relieved to hear that Governor Shapiro and his family are safe following the horrific arson attack at the Governor’s Residence.” He condemned the attack as a form of political violence and hatred, emphasizing that such actions have no place in America. Van Drew remarked that the timing of the attack on the first night of Passover, targeting a Jewish family, was particularly troubling.

He appreciated the rapid response from the Pennsylvania State Police, the Harrisburg Bureau of Fire, and the Capitol Police, acknowledging their efforts in preventing further harm.
