Congressman Van Drew has addressed claims made by the Atlantic City Housing Authority (the Authority) regarding their attempts to schedule a meeting with his office. According to the Congressman, there has been no effort from the Authority to contact his office to discuss the ongoing health and safety crisis at Stanley Holmes Village. Speaking on the matter, Congressman Van Drew stated, "Last night's Authority meeting clearly showcased their eagerness to shift the blame and evade responsibility." He also mentioned, "The Chair's claim of seeking a meeting with us, yet failing to secure one, is a blatant lie."

The Congressman further criticized the Authority for neglecting the opportunity for an open and honest conversation during his visit to Stanley Holmes Village on March 15th. He highlighted the Authority's failure to address the health and safety standards of their residents, stating that residents are still living with issues such as mold and leaky pipes. Van Drew accused the Authority of prioritizing self-preservation over the well-being of the residents and shifting blame instead of finding solutions.

Despite the claims made by the Authority, Congressman Van Drew emphasized that his office remains willing to engage in meaningful discussions to assist the residents in any way possible. However, he noted that at this time, they cannot discuss any ongoing investigations into the actions or inactions of the Authority. The Congressman concluded by stating that the Authority is welcome to reach out through email, phone, or mail to schedule a meeting with his office.
