Happy Fall 2022, everyone! The new 4-H year has begun, as we watch the weather cool down and the leaves change. We are hoping the 4HOnline re-enrollment season is going smoothly. Please visit https://v2.4honline.com to re-enroll if you haven’t already.

Not every County 4-H program has an autumn open house, but below you will see a list of those with Open Houses coming up. Thank you for all that you give to your County 4-H program -- you make 4-H possible!

National 4-H Week and NJ 4-H Open Houses!

The new 4-H year is upon us and that means it’s time for 4-H Open Houses and National 4-H Week events. For more information on National 4-H Week held October 2-8 visit https://4-h.org/ 

Atlantic: October 22nd from 2pm to 4pm, also a Trunk or Treat event.

Gloucester:  Oct 8, 5-7 p.m., Free Trunk-or-Treat event WITH 4-H club information!  254 County House Road, Clarksboro NJ

Middlesex: October 2 from 1-3 pm at the 4-H Center in East Brunswick and Haunted House and Hayride Fundraiser begins October 7th and runs every Friday and Saturday night from 7-10:30 PM at the 4-H Center, 645 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick.

Salem: Thursday, Sept 29, 6-8 p.m. at the Ware Agriculture Building, 51 Cheney Rd in Woodstown

Somerset: 4-H Open House is Sept 29 from 6:30 – 8:30pm.We have a 4-H Trunk or Treat on Friday, Oct 21 from 6-7:30pm Both are held at the Somerset County 4-H Center, 310 Milltown Rd. Bridgewater, NJ 08807

4-H Cupcake Wars! Program

4-H Foods clubs are invited to enter as a team in the 4-H Cupcake Wars event, hosted by Somerset County 4-H on Saturday,  December 3, 11 AM - 6 PM, 310 Milltown Road in Bridgewater.  Rules and registration are here. There will be a pizza lunch/social while the cupcakes cool. (please bring some money to help cover the cost). For more information, email 4hmasterchefs@gmail.com

Somerset County Classic Archery Golf Tournament

This tournament will be held October 22, 2022, 9:00 - 11:30 (Rain date of October 23) at the Ted Blum 4-H Center, 310 Milltown Road, Bridgewater, NJ.  The entry fee is $10 and is payable at the event. Register here and for any questions contact: 4hontargetarcheryclub@gmail.com

NJ 4-H Discover the Leader in You! Conference

This conference for youth in grades 6-8 will be held at the Somerset County 4-H office in Bridgewater (https://4histops.org/contact-us) on Saturday, October 29th from 10 AM until 3 PM. Registration materials can be found at: https://nj4h.rutgers.edu/lead.../discover-the-leader-in-you/. The due date for registrations is October 17th.

October PhotoCorps Challenge: “Hidden and Visible”

The NJ 4-H PhotoCorps is open to youth in grades 4-13. October’s PhotoCorps theme is “Hidden and Visible.” What is hidden and visible to the eye, to your camera lens? There are many worlds to explore!  Through your photography, bring us into the world of the "Hidden and Visible"!

Entries for this theme are open from the beginning to end of the month.

Who can be trained:

Junior Instructors (age 16-18  - must have an adult present)

Assistant Instructors (age 19-20)

Rutgers STEM Challenge: Explorers of the Deep

The 2022 Challenge helps young people develop observational and critical thinking skills while exploring the interconnected nature between the ocean and humans, regardless of where they live. They will learn about the incredibly complex relationship between Earth’s oceans and the global climate. Explorers of the Deep consists of three activities that can be done all at once or individually, making it highly adaptable for classrooms, afterschool programs, clubs and more.
