On the morning of Monday, January 23rd, employees of the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office--Assistant Atlantic County Prosecutor Deirdre Laws, Detective Chris Southard, Sergeant Jen Cugini, and Victim Witness Advocate Melody Kirby--received recognition for their efforts and contribution to prosecution of human traffickers and aid to trafficking victims. 

This award was presented at the "Survivors are Thriving Recognition Breakfast 2023" hosted by The Atlantic County Anti-Human Trafficking Committee, sponsored by Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City. The Recognition Breakfast was held to honor the many professionals and advocates in the field of anti-human trafficking.

This event's keynote speakers were Ashante Taylorcox, Founder and Executive Director of You Are More Than, Inc., and Cristian Eduardo, Survivor and Lead Human Trafficking Consultant of Shobana Powell Consulting. The keynote speakers discussed the urgent need to advocate for male trafficking survivors, and the importance of resources being survivor-informed, survivor-inclusive, and survivor-led.

Welcoming remarks were given by Atlantic County Prosecutor William Reynolds. Other speakers included Senator Vince Polistina, Miss New Jersey 2022 Augostina Mallous, HR Recovery Initiative Director Cristine Knight, and many esteemed  professionals in the anti-human trafficking field.
