 Dairy Judging Contest will be held on Saturday, April 29.

 Registration to begin at 8:30 a.m., contest to start promptly at 9:00 a.m. at Cedar Lane Farm in Oldwick, NJ. 

New Date for State 4-H Goat Show

The State 4-H Goat Show is moving to the Saturday of the Hunterdon County 4-H and Agricultural Fair.  Mark your calendar - it will be Saturday, August 26!

PROGRAMS & EVENTS FOR 4-H MEMBERS 

Middlesex County 4-H Virtual Top Chef Competition New Jersey 4-H members, leaders & parents are invited to video their favorite recipe and share it for judging. Your video should include ingredients, prep and cooking directions, and your finished product.Categories: 4-H individual (grades 4-8 and 9-13), member/adult team, and 4-H member team. Registration deadline is February 6th, and videos must be sent to lbovitz@njaes.rutgers.edu (directly or link to a google doc) by February 15th .All participants will receive judging sheets and ribbons by mail following the event. Trophies to top winners in each category (grade level and team).

4-H Animal Science Video Contest and Film FestivalThis event is open to ALL New Jersey 4-H alpaca, cat, cattle (beef/dairy), dog, goat, herpetology, horse, llama, poultry, sheep, small animal and swine projects youth members, adult volunteers and parents. Contest is sponsored by   New Jersey 4-H, in cooperation with the New Jersey Junior Breeder Symposium.Youth may work individually or as a team to create short educational videos (3:30 minutes or less) about any of the animal projects listed above. A selection of videos will then be shared at the film festival during an afternoon session of the Junior Breeder Symposium on Saturday, March 25.  Youth of the top scoring videos will receive awards, including gift cards. Somerset County 4-H Presents "AG-Venture" DaySaturday, February 11, 2023 at the Somerset County 4-H Center, 310 Milltown Road, Bridgewater.  Cost is $20 per child, additional siblings are $15 each. Check in starts at 8:30 AM and the event will end by 12:30 PM. 4-H AG-Venture Day is a fun day of hands-on animal science in agriculture learning for youth participants in grades 4-6 presented by the Somerset County 4-H Program. Launch into Rocketry Workshop

Monday, February 20, 3:30-4:30pm (virtual workshop)Meet the ResistoJets Rocketry 4-H club and its team members participating in the NASA Student Launch Initiative this year. They will teach a science topic related to rocketry using hands-on activities you can do along with them, and show what is needed to assemble and launch a rocket from a kit. This will be followed by a Q&A session where you can find out how this team got started, what High Power Rocketry is, how to get certified, about national competitions, and more. TEEN LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIESNational 4-H  Citizen Washington FocusCitizenship Washington Focus (CWF) is a leadership and civic engagement program conducted by the National 4-H Council for high school age youth. New Jersey 4-H Legislative Leadership ExperienceFor 4-H members in grades 9-12. This event will include two one hour zoom meetings and an in-person experience at the State Capital in Trenton including a tour of the State House. Registration is limited to 20 teens. The program will teach youth about the lawmaking process in NJ and to build awareness of current bills in the Senate and Assembly. 4-H Horse Judges Clinic 2023Virtual training: Tuesday February 21, 2023 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM 

Judges interested in working with 4-H Horse Shows in New Jersey are invited to sign up for this year's Judge's Clinic, Feb 21, 2023. When a judge attends the training this year, the training is good until February 2025. Please be aware that any judge that is going to be used for 4-H State Horse Show Qualifying Show MUST have attended this clinic within two years of judging. Certified Pullorum Testing Classes for 2023 New Jersey Poultry Shows Through the NJ Department of AgricultureIf you own and show poultry or are a 4-H leader, FFA advisor or poultry club officer, please consider being certified as a Pullorum tester for New Jersey. The state requires that all birds going to shows or fairs be tested for this disease. Only Certified Pullorum testers may perform these tests. Pullorum certification is available on April 15, 2023 from 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM.
