Congressman Van Drew has been appointed as the Chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Oversight for the 119th Congress. In a statement, Congressman Van Drew expressed his gratitude for the selection by Chairman Jordan, emphasizing the responsibilities that lie ahead.
"It is an honor to be selected by Chairman Jordan to lead the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Oversight," stated Congressman Van Drew. He outlined the subcommittee's mission to restore trust in federal agencies, investigate government overreach, and protect American freedoms. The subcommittee will oversee several federal agencies, including the Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), Office of the Inspector General (OIG), and Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP). Van Drew stressed that their work would require full transparency to ensure that "the federal government serves the people."
The congressman also highlighted their commitment to advancing conservative policies and fulfilling priorities set by former President Trump. "It is time to get to work," he concluded.
House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan expressed enthusiasm about Van Drew's return to the Judiciary Committee. "We're looking forward to having Chairman Jeff Van Drew return to Judiciary Committee for the 119th Congress," said Jordan. He added that as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight, Van Drew will collaborate with House Republicans on issues such as border security and public safety while delivering transparency.
