WASHINGTON, D.C. – On June 7, Rep. Donald Norcross (NJ-01) announced a $1,101,459 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to CAMcare Health Corporation that will expand comprehensive health care services to medically underserved communities throughout South Jersey.
The HHS Health Center Cluster Program supports community-based and patient-directed nonprofit organizations that provide primary and preventive health care services to the nation’s underserved. The grant is awarded on a competitive basis having demonstrated a strong reputation for quality care.
“Local health centers like CAMcare are essential to ensuring communities across South Jersey have access to the quality, affordable health care they need and deserve,” Rep. Norcross said. “This grant will expand critical health services and provide high-quality community-based care in South Jersey. I thank CAMcare for their dedication to our community.”
“We appreciate how Congressman Norcross continues to fight for equal access to high quality, affordable health care. This federal funding helps our patients get healthy and stay healthy. Congressman Norcross is helping to provide essential health care services that impact our communities,” said Jillian Hudspeth, CAMcare Health’s President and CEO.
Rep. Norcross has championed community health care facilities and access to affordable, quality health care for all Americans. At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, he secured more than $2.5 million in federal funding for South Jersey health care facilities in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. Additionally, he voted for the American Rescue Plan, which provided CAMcare with over $7.75 million to expand services and access to care in Camden.
