Today, Congressman Van Drew criticized Atlantic City Electric (ACE) for what he describes as a lack of transparency. This follows ACE's absence from an October 8th hearing focused on increasing electricity bills.
Congressman Van Drew expressed his concerns, stating, "Everything they want to say to us in a closed-door meeting can be said to the public—so what are they hiding?" He further emphasized his willingness to engage with Exelon and ACE, highlighting their invitation to testify at the hearing, which they declined.
Despite multiple letters and ongoing communication from his office, Congressman Van Drew claims that ACE has not provided meaningful solutions or explanations. He remarked, "We have given them every opportunity to be transparent with the public, but they continue to avoid accountability. It is time for them to answer directly to the people whose bills are skyrocketing. No more excuses—we demand real answers."
