Congressman Van Drew has announced an upcoming meeting with Atlantic City Electric (ACE) and Exelon in Washington, D.C. to discuss the high utility costs impacting South Jersey residents. The meeting is scheduled for next week.
"After months of delay, ACE and Exelon have finally agreed to meet with us next week to discuss the unreasonable utility charges that South Jersey residents are currently facing," stated Congressman Van Drew. He emphasized the need for "real, concrete actions" rather than "empty promises." Proposed solutions include issuing rebates and ensuring future rate hikes are controlled.
Van Drew mentioned ongoing collaboration with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), which is reviewing provided materials related to this issue. His office remains committed to assisting individuals with their concerns, urging affected residents to also contact the Governor's Office and the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU).
"My office will continue to help people with their individual issues, and I also urge anyone experiencing these issues to additionally contact the Governor's Office and the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) who oversee these matters," Van Drew added. He stressed that these entities "have the power to act now" to protect residents from what he describes as a failing system.
The Congressman reaffirmed his commitment on a federal level towards consumer protection and compensation, citing unnecessary financial strain on South Jersey families due to rising costs. He expressed determination in holding ACE and Exelon accountable.
