Congressman Van Drew has shared an update regarding efforts to address rising utility bills in South Jersey. Following a meeting on December 5th with Atlantic City Electric (ACE) and Exelon leaders, the Congressman announced commitments from ACE aimed at resolving billing issues.
"As a result of our meeting, we were able to secure some important commitments from ACE," stated Congressman Van Drew. "First, they have agreed to conduct an additional audit of their billing system, which is an important step in making sure customers are being fairly charged." He added that ACE will review claims from individuals who believe they were overcharged and work towards resolving these cases.
In response to suggestions made during the meeting, ACE plans to host office hours across South Jersey. This initiative will allow customers to meet representatives face-to-face and discuss their concerns. The company aims to establish a more efficient process for addressing customer complaints promptly.
Van Drew emphasized the ongoing nature of this issue: "This is a good start but there is still a lot of work to do. We are going to keep fighting against any proposed rate hikes, and we will make sure they follow through on these commitments they have made."
The Congressman also mentioned collaboration with the incoming administration as part of efforts to achieve tangible results for residents affected by high utility costs.
