Today, Congressman Van Drew revealed his collaboration with President Trump on an executive order aimed at halting offshore wind turbine activities along the East Coast. The initiative seeks to establish a temporary suspension and lay the groundwork for potential permanent measures. The finalization of this order is anticipated within the early months of the administration.
Congressman Van Drew criticized previous approvals of these projects, stating, "These offshore wind projects should have never been approved in the first place. The Biden administration rammed them through without proper oversight, transparent leases, or a full understanding of their devastating consequences." He expressed concerns over economic and environmental impacts, describing them as "an economic and environmental disaster waiting to happen."
He further accused the previous administration's green agenda of prioritizing politics over public welfare. "The administration's reckless green agenda put politics over people, and that ends now," he asserted. Highlighting President Trump's commitment to addressing these issues, Van Drew stated, "President Trump has been committed to stopping them, and together, we are taking action."
Van Drew emphasized that this executive order marks just the beginning of their efforts. "This executive order is just the beginning. We will fight tooth and nail to prevent this offshore wind catastrophe from wreaking havoc on the hardworking people who call our coastal towns home," he concluded.
